Title: Evaluating Local Exhaust Ventilation Systems for Use in Nail Salons: Final Report
Author: Laurie S. Foster, Stephen G. Whittaker, Nazila Shakabaei, Martin A. Cohen
Abstract: The goal of this study was to evaluate four local exhaust ventilation (LEV) systems to determine their effectiveness at eliminating acetone vapor and dust from the breathing zone of nail salon technicians and their clients. Using local exhaust ventilation could reduce nail salon workers' exposure to dust particles by 67-90% and organic vapors (acetone) by at least 77%.
