Unsure what to toss? Search online for help with words like: "hiring downsizing services, appraise personal property, estate contents," and your city. Experts in decluttering or appraisers can advise you on what is treasure, what to toss, keep, recycle, sell or donate. They can refer you to auctions, sales, or charities.

Call before you move lab or chemical bottles

If you find any of these containers, call the Business Waste Line at 206-263-8899 before you move them.

Pharmacists, doctors and science teachers may have science hobby kits or chemical bottle collections that can contain extremely hazardous and potentially unstable chemicals.

Recycling or donating

You haul. Dispose of garbage that is non-hazardous at a King County transfer station if you live in King County or a Seattle transfer station if you live in Seattle. Call King County Solid Waste at 206-477-4466 or Seattle Public Utilities at 206-684-3000.
